Synopsis:

Stripped from the right to exist, shunned by love and rejected by society’s norms and expectation, 23-year-old Shams must live in the shadows steeped in secrecy and an unimaginable pain.

Fearing shame and ridicule, Shams’s mother never registers him/her in the public records due to being born with both genitalia. Living in Shams’s world means to abandon one’s identity in order for them to survive in this harsh and closed-minded society.

Courted by Habib, her true love, and the crook Abdelkader and his abused wife Naima, does not make her situation any easier. The fierce competition between the two men vying for Shams’s love, is outed by the jealous crook Abdelkader in front of the entire village. Now, accused of being an instrument of the devil, rejected by Habib who feels betrayed, Shams is forced to leave the village to the capital to start a new life. But little did Shams know that this journey will be filled with more sorrow and rejection.
